Nkeiruka Whenu – Black Tech Achievement Award Nominee

Yesterday, I found out through an unusually high influx of LinkedIn notifications, that I had been selected as a Finalist for the Black Tech Achievement Awards as an Inspirational Woman of the Year 🎉.

To be honest– I burst into tears 🙈. The hashtag#BTAAwards are such an astounding recognition that I feel incredibly validated to have been acknowledged as someone trying to bring change to this sector. This is the same Award ceremony from which I had received emails in my inbox for years, the same Award ceremony that acknowledged many of my role models and peers in this space, and that will be bringing together some of the most influential entrepreneurs and go-getters in the industry, as judges, fellow panellists, hosts and guests 🌍.

Much like others, I have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions in my self-taught journey to make a difference. However through the faith of mentors such as Kieza Silveira De Sousa, friends such as Yetunde Animashaun, MSc of Tech432 and Sashaa Charlotte Ismael of Malka London, the organisations that have bought myself and my skillset to where they are, and others who consistently uplift me when motivation is hard, I have been able to continue my goal to push forward STEM and Emerging Technology education through Web3sy and other projects. This is our win 💪🏽.

I am so excited to meet my fellow nominees on the 21st of March to further learn from and network with everyone. It is so crazy that I will be in the room where it happens, with the people who make it happen. Thank you Dr. Raphael Sofoluke for creating the space for these recognitions 🏆.
